QuarkXPress 6.0 and OS X compatibility
INposition is an XTension for QuarkXPress™, a native Mac OS X application. INposition continues to provide speed and integration. You can impose, preview, edit, color separate and print all within one environment.

Imposition on Mac OS X

New support for Adobe® InDesign 2 working files
The new Tempus filter launches InDesign 2.0+ in OS X environment to seamlessly produce pages ready for imposition. The user simply has to drag the Tempus icon in the publication palette the usual way, and browse to select InDesign working files to be imported.

Support for QuarkXPress "Layout" feature
You can impose pages from any document layout. The user simply has to click on the appropriate layout tab of the document to activate it, then drag & drop page icons into the publication palette as usual!

New Perfector mode options
INposition features two new solutions to adapt to perfecting devices:

• An option for rotating back plates 180º has been added. The option is available in the INposition panel of the Print menu.
• A Tumble pagination option has also been added in the Imposition Order dialog.

Support for custom imposition orders
A set of validations has been implemented to allow for more flexible pagination patterns. In the Imposition Order dialog, the user selects the Duplicate numbering option and enters any custom pagination.

INposition allows for saddle-stitched or perfect bound publications. It paginates entire signatures based on initial page number location, binding, and fold orientation. Pagination of partial web with any number of pages can also be performed.

Friendly Publication Layout Interface

Speed and Productivity

Imposing native files delivers significant time savings and other benefits, and should be done as much as possible. Why?

First and foremost you don't need to generate intermediate PostScript files. You can edit in real time and preview on screen both the reader's and printer's modes. You see exactly what you are doing and get results immediately. To edit, select the page, make and save the change, and INposition will resolve the entire publication in seconds, all without leaving the application.

In sharp contrast, other imposition products force you to generate a PostScript file at every turn and then reimport it to be imposed. Instead of thumbnail previews, you get a blank-page representation of each page or a page list. This is time consuming, inefficient and disruptive to your workflow.

INposition thus can be at least twice as fast as any other product. Besides the time advantage, you also reduce storage requirements because you don't need to save any PostScript files. You may also save on film since you catch more mistakes through graphic thumbnail previews of your pages before they are output. What's more, INposition's benefits increase as a job's size and complexity grow. The bigger job you have, the more money it saves you.

You can start working quickly with three simple and intuitive steps:

Plate Styles

Automatic pagination option based on initial fold.

Plate Styles are created quickly and saved as templates. You specify the number of pages per plate, plate dimensions and orientation, including user-definable margins and gutters; placement and scaling of press marks; and imposition order. Select from a set of standard press marks, use existing or create a library of custom marks. Multiple signature definitions can be created for each plate style and reused, including multiple-sheet (stacked-web) signatures and partial sheets. Tiling is supported.

Publication Styles

Publication Styles defines attributes of specific jobs, including: binding type, bleed amount, paper thickness and predefined signatures. Creep (shingling) is compensated for automatically. Publication Styles can be saved and easily reused by selecting templates from pop-up menus.

Publications

Publications can combine pages from multiple documents and applications into one single publication, for interactive viewing, imposing and editing.

Reader's Mode displays pages in the reader's mode. You can drag and drop pages to edit, add, delete or rearrange page orders, or insert placeholders.

Printer's Mode shows the publication as imposed plates. Select a Publication Style and INposition assembles the pages into signatures and places trim, bleed, fold and crop marks automatically.

Please note that INposition is not a Universal Binary XTension. It operates on MAC Power PC and MAC Intel using Rosetta emulator. To do so, choose the QuarkXPress application, press Apple-I (Get Info), and check the option Open using Rosetta. You can then launch QuarkXPress in order to use INposition 7.0.
